This role is a brand new role based within the Product Assurance Team. The Product Assurance team play an important role within the wider Commercial team to ensure that products are ethically sourced through the supply chain, they are compliant with legislation and that they are fit for purpose for our customers. The Compliance Technologist will support the management of the supply chain and other important functions such as legislative requirements and sustainability.

Location: Century House Brunel Road Wakefield 41 Industrial Estate

Hours: 37.5 / Full Time Permanent 

Role Responsibility

  • Coordination and maintenance of the supply chain; conduct regular reviews of our supply chain, including the on-boarding of new suppliers, whilst ensuring transparency and compliance; 

  • Manage the audit schedule and arrange audits where appropriate to support our no audit, no order policy, ensuring all non-conformities are reviewed with continuous monitoring of corrective actions plans; 

  • Communication with suppliers to ensure Card Factory requirements are followed; 

  • To be a modern slavery policy ambassador working with the supply chain to monitor awareness, conduct risk assessments, mitigate risks and update policies; 

  • Play an important part in the management of our FSC certification and UKTR/EUTR requirements; complete monthly checks on supplier FSC status and documentation, audit preparation, general FSC ‘housekeeping’, and UKTR/EUTR compliance; 

  • Monthly reporting for environmental legislation including WEEE and Battery; 

  • Monitoring of chemical compliance in-line with REACH and CLP Regulations, producing reports and tracking information; 

  • Support the company’s ESG commitments by encouraging sustainability across product and packaging; 

  • Develop new or existing processes and policies where appropriate within the QC team to improve effectiveness; 

  • Work closely with the QC and buying teams to provide guidance and support for legislative requirements, ethical practices and sustainability goals; 

  • Be an all-round ambassador for the QC and wider Card Factory team, supporting departmental and group strategies. 

 

The Ideal Candidate

  • A strong understanding of the importance of QC functions, ethical and legislative requirements; 

  • Experience in ethical supply chain management, working in a retail or supplier setting; 

  • Experience working with Far East suppliers and other key stakeholders; 

  • Self-starter and has the ability to work as part of a team; 

  • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines;  

  • The ability to work cross-functionally with other departments; 

  • Proficient Excel skills (Pivots and Look-ups); 

  • Excellent communicational and interpersonal skills; 

  • Excellent analytical, organisational and reporting skills; 

  • Experience in some of the following areas; Modern Slavery, FSC, WEEE Regulations, Battery Directive, UKTR/EUTR, REACH, CLP, product and packaging sustainability (all are not essential but are advantageous);

  • Would have a background in Ethical, Quality and Compliance.
