Assistant Design Manager

Job Introduction

Great opportunity for an Assistant Designer Manager to join the studio team at Card Factory - a fast-paced and creative environment where you get to see your ideas come to life! The studio is friendly, fun and full of exciting challenges that will help you develop your skills. Our managers encourage teams to get out and see what’s happening in the wide world of retail, where they can find new ideas and inspiration. Development days/sessions are encouraged, so the team can learn from each other as well as new trends in the market.

This position is based at Junction 41 in Wakefield, with free parking. We tend to mix working from home with time in the studio as required. A typical week could see you being in for 2-3 days, we just ask for flexibility.  

Role Responsibility

  • Planning briefs for card ranges, both using existing assets/style guides and developing new collection looks 
  • Briefing the design team and supporting them throughout
  • Providing input to help form creative strategies and supporting Design Manager to fulfil creative strategy requirements
  • Supporting management to ensure deadlines are met
  • Supporting with the development and innovation programs
  • Liasing with relevant stakeholders in the business

The Ideal Candidate

  • Related degree or equivalent qualification and experience working in the greetings industry
  • MS Office knowledge
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Leadership skills
  • Keen commercial eye for design. Understands strong use of typography, font choices, colour, composition and can adapt to different genres
  • Previous experience in the Greeting Card Industry desirable
