Job Introduction
We are currently looking for an experienced Buyer to join the Gifting categories team at Card Factory in Wakefield. This is a fast paced, fun environment where you will help to make people’s life moments special - as part of a team who deliver new and exciting product ranges. This role is available on a one year fixed term contract basis. You will be based onsite at our Head office in Wakefield with some opportunity to work from home where possible.
Role Responsibility
- Supporting the Senior Buyer in developing and executing the category strategy to enable the delivery of the overarching Commercial strategy and financial targets.
- Leading the product development process and range plan from initiation through to execution of the Activity plan, working collaboratively with Merchandise Planning, Design, Space and Retail colleagues.
- Analyse and evaluate the overall performance of the product area weekly against budget, LFL and strategy, identify lessons learnt to make informed decisions to trade your category and manage risk to drive sales and profitability;
- Responsible for working with the Quality Control team to ensure products are sourced with relevant safety and quality standards and supplier audits are in place;
- Influence key stakeholders to align on delivery of key outputs
- Manage supplier relationships by effectively negotiating costs in line with margin requirements
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience working with product from a Home/Gifting/Occasion/Fashion background preferred.
- A creative flair and a strong eye for product is a must!
- Ability to have tough, honest conversations that drive performance;
- Experience interpreting financial data to improve profit and sales;
- Experience managing all administration that is connected to the area;
- Ability to confidently raise opportunities to the Senior Leadership team;
- Able to build strong working relationships within the team, and with other key stakeholders;
- Work in an ethical, sustainable and legal way in the sourcing of product;
- Be results focused and plans ahead, dealing with issues before they escalate;
- Be commercially aware and seek ways to improve profit.
