We are currently looking for an experienced Buyer to join the Party & Wrap Team at cardfactory in Wakefield. This is a fast paced, fun environment where you will help our customers to celebrate life's moments - as part of a team who deliver new and exciting product ranges.
Reporting to the Buying Manager /Senior Buying Manager you will play an integral role in a fast-paced commercial environment. You will build and manage your own customer focused product ranges, taking ownership of the range plan to deliver commercially sound product selections that meet the requirements of the Category strategy. Your new and exciting product ranges will meet customer needs and help deliver financial targets.
You will be based onsite at our Head office in Wakefield, the demands of this role require you to be onsite around 3 days per week with the remainder from home.
This opportunity is available on a fixed term contract basis for 9 months, with the possibility to extend up to 12 months.
Main Responsibilities
- Identify and deliver commercially viable new product opportunities that meet customer needs.
- Own the P&L for your categories, driving sales, profit and strategic range planning.
- Create clear range briefs and work collaboratively with Design, Marketing and other key teams.
- Build strong supplier relationships, leading negotiations and ensuring quality, sustainability and compliance.
- Manage the product development process and Critical Path from concept to launch, addressing risks proactively.
The Ideal Candidate
- Proven experience delivering sales and profit growth within a product‑led retail environment.
- Background in Greetings, Home, Gifting, Occasion or Fashion preferred, with a strong creative eye for product.
- Skilled in supplier management, critical path management and cross‑functional collaboration.
- Excellent communication, relationship‑building and commercial decision‑making skills.
- Ambitious, adaptable and confident with Microsoft Office, with desire to develop people management skills.
