Corporate Finance Assistant

About the job

If you’re looking to begin your finance career in a role where you’ll learn a huge amount and get exposure to several specialist areas, this could be the perfect next step. As our Corporate Finance Assistant, you’ll be part of a supportive team that looks after Treasury, Tax and Financial Reporting, helping to keep everything running smoothly across the Group. It’s a hands‑on role where you’ll build core skills, gain valuable experience and play a key part in our day‑to‑day financial operations. You’ll be right at the heart of how we manage our cash, our banking relationships and the information the wider business relies on. Based at our Support Centre in Wakefield (Just of Junction 41 on the M1), this is a hybrid role, with 2–3 days in the office each week.

What you’ll be doing
This role covers a broad mix of Corporate Finance activity, and full training will be provided. In practice, this includes preparing weekly analysis of cash transactions and bank balances to support the Treasury Analyst with cash flow forecasting. You will manage the Treasury inbox and process manual or ad hoc payments using the Group’s banking systems. Month‑end activity forms an important part of the role, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and on time. Daily administration of banking tasks also sits with you, from issuing company credit cards to keeping statements and payment notices organised. You’ll contribute to a range of Corporate Finance projects, including those linked to Tax and External Reporting. You will also handle information requests from internal and external auditors to support smooth, well‑organised audits.

What you’ll bring:
We’re not expecting previous treasury or finance experience — what matters is your mindset and motivation. You’ll thrive here if you bring:
  • A genuine desire to build a career in finance
  • Strong organisation skills and the ability to handle shifting priorities
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate work
  • Good analytical skills and confidence with everyday software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • The ability to work independently as well as contribute positively to the team
