Cyber Security Analyst

About the job

Are you passionate about keeping businesses safe from cyber threats? We’re looking for a Cyber Security Analyst to join our team and help protect cardfactory and Funky Pigeon from evolving risks.

This is a role where your expertise really matters – you’ll be monitoring, analysing, and responding to security events, working closely with IT colleagues and external partners to keep our systems secure. Success here means spotting issues before they become problems, recommending smart solutions, and making sure our security posture stays strong.

You’ll be part of a team that takes security seriously and values your input. We offer hybrid working (typically 2–3 days a week in our Wakefield office near Junction 41), opportunities to develop your skills, and the chance to make a real impact in a growing business.

What you’ll be doing:

In this role, you’ll take ownership of security-related requests, responding promptly to tickets, emails, and project tasks to keep things moving. You’ll monitor and analyse logs, alerts, and events, ensuring that any incidents are handled quickly and effectively. Staying ahead of emerging threats will be key, so you’ll run regular security scans and audits to identify vulnerabilities before they cause problems. Managing risks will also be part of your day-to-day, from maintaining a risk register to assessing impact and recommending the best treatment options. You’ll carry out identity access management audits, making sure records are accurate and suggesting remediation where needed. Alongside this, you’ll support projects by providing security advice, delivering training, and running phishing simulations to keep colleagues informed. Finally, you’ll offer technical and configuration support for compliance across business-wide changes, ensuring everything meets governance requirements.

What we’re looking for:

  • Solid experience in IT security, including monitoring logs and responding to incidents.
  • Hands-on knowledge of security technologies such as SIEM, MDR/XDR, IDS/IPS, firewalls, vulnerability scanners, and Microsoft Azure.
  • Familiarity with security standards and frameworks like Cyber Essentials, CIS Controls, OWASP, and ISO 27001.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to stay calm under pressure and communicate clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A relevant degree or equivalent experience, and ideally a recognised certification such as CompTIA Security+.
