Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

About the job

Are you someone who enjoys the best of both worlds — the hands‑on depth of on‑premise tech and the innovation of cloud? Do you like variety, problem‑solving, and shaping infrastructure that’s modern, resilient, and ready for the future? If that sounds like you, this Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure Engineer role could be a great fit. You’ll join a team working across a genuinely blended environment, with the flexibility of hybrid working (typically 2–3 days a week on site, with the rest from home). You’ll mainly work from our Support Centre in Wakefield, with travel to our Printcraft site in Baildon when required, so access to your own vehicle is essential. The role also includes a paid on‑call rota, approximately one week in every four.

What you’ll be doing:

This role sits right at the heart of our hybrid infrastructure, where you’ll be working across both on‑premise systems and our growing Microsoft Azure estate. Every day brings different challenges — from designing and improving our virtualisation, storage, networking, and server environments, to developing cloud‑native solutions and automation that keep our platforms secure and future‑proofed. You’ll play a key part in ensuring everything runs smoothly, reliably, and efficiently, with the confidence to make sound technical decisions that support the business.

A big part of the role involves shaping and maintaining our CI/CD pipelines, building in strong quality gates and security controls to help us deploy with confidence. You’ll also be implementing backup, recovery, and compliance processes to keep our environments resilient and protected. Collaboration will be central to your success here, as you’ll work closely with colleagues across IT — from security and architecture to service desk and applications — helping translate business needs into robust technical solutions.

What you’ll bring:

  • Strong experience working across hybrid infrastructure — both on‑premise and cloud (ideally Azure)
  • Practical knowledge of virtualisation, identity management, networking, automation, and Infrastructure as Code
  • Experience creating and operating CI/CD pipelines and modern deployment processes
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work confidently with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
  • A proactive, solutions‑focused mindset with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues
