About the job
Are you an experienced Infrastructure Engineer looking for a role where your expertise really makes an impact?
This is your chance to join a team that values innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence. You’ll play a key part in designing, implementing, and maintaining the systems that keep our business running smoothly – from servers and networks to cloud resources and storage solutions.
This role is all about ensuring stability, security, and scalability across our IT infrastructure. You’ll bring your knowledge of Microsoft Server, virtualisation technologies, and Azure cloud services to help shape our strategy and support day-to-day operations.
You’ll be part of a supportive team that values continuous improvement and professional growth. We offer hybrid working (typically 2–3 days a week at our Support Centre near Junction 41, Wakefield), plus opportunities to develop your skills and work on exciting projects that make a real difference.
What you'll be doing:
In this role, you’ll design, deploy, and manage Microsoft Server environments, including Active Directory, Exchange, Microsoft 365, MFA, SSO, VPN, and SQL databases. Building and maintaining virtualisation solutions using technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, or similar platforms will be a key part of your responsibilities. You’ll also take ownership of developing and managing cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure to ensure scalability and security.
Monitoring and optimising system performance is essential to keep our infrastructure highly available and reliable. Alongside this, you’ll configure networking elements such as VPN, DNS, TCP/IP, DHCP, and security protocols. Collaboration matters too, so expect to work closely with IT and business teams to plan and document infrastructure activities.
When issues arise, you’ll troubleshoot complex technical incidents and provide support to other IT teams. Finally, you’ll implement security best practices, including patch management and access controls, to safeguard our systems and data.
What we're looking for:
- Solid technical expertise across network protocols, virtualisation, SQL databases, and server administration (Windows and Linux).
- Practical experience with Azure cloud services, infrastructure as code (Terraform), and containerisation tools such as Docker or Kubernetes.
- Strong knowledge of storage systems, backup technologies, disaster recovery planning, and scripting languages like PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to stay calm under pressure, plus clear communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
