Packing Machine Operator

About the job

We are looking for a motivated Packing Machine Operator to join our team. The role involves extensive manual handling which includes moving pallets of cards/envelopes around the machines. Lifting products including cards/envelopes and rolls of film into high speed machinery that will convert into finished products. Basic computer operation to understand product information and instructions related to products being produced.

The role involves working a continental shift pattern working an average of 42 hours per week. This involves working 4x12- hour days then 4 days rest, then 4x 12-hour nights then 4 days’ rest.

The salary for this role is £16.68 per hour

Health & Safety rules must be adhered to along with the daily house keeping all supported by a daily time sheet that must be completed by each operator at the end of each shift.

What you’ll do

  • Communicating with colleagues
  • Understanding and acting on instructions from the departmental supervisor
  • Follow the daily machine plan to ensure maximum efficiency is obtained and the daily targets are achieved
  • Manual handling (with the aid of manual pallet trucks)
  • Mechanical knowledge for basic machine repairs and size changing of machine
  • Basic computer skills to produce product labels and to obtain instructions related to product information
  • Total awareness when of the environment when machine is in production due to high running speeds of equipment
  • Completing understanding of all the safety elements and processes related to the equipment
  • To ensure all Health & Safety processes and procedure are fully understood and followed
