Product Technologist
Job Introduction
This is a great opportunity to join Card Factory in a key role, as a Product Assurance Technologist. Reporting the Quality Assurance Manager this role is responsible for delivering the quality strategy for a range of products such as candles, cosmetics, electrical/battery powered, confectionery and toys.
This role is available on a hybrid basis combining some day’s onsite at our Head Office, Junction 41 Industrial Estate, and Wakefield - with some days working remotely from home.
Role Responsibility
- Advising and approving product labelling with buyers, studio and suppliers
- Speaking to third party consultants as and when required for labelling advice and CLP
- Discussing and reviewing samples with the buying team before production
- Requesting product testing and pre-shipment inspections
- Reviewing AQL / final inspections
- Reviewing test reports on all types of products
- EUTR/UKTR checks
- Maintain internal tracker documents
- Fortnightly meetings for inputting to the critical path from NPD stage to final shipment
- Liaising with buyers and suppliers to offer technical guidance on new product development with the aim of reducing costs and improving quality
- Ensuring compliance with labelling regulations, product safety, WEEE directive and REACH legislation
- Responsible for storing and keeping records of samples including customer complaints
- Supporting Compliance Technologist with Supply base duties, if and when required
- Cosmetic Product Notification on both EU and UK sites
- Completing Technical Documents for all CE / UKCA marked products
- Keeping technical files up to date
The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience working in a technical role with experience of one or more of the following, Cosmetics, Toys, Candles (CLP), Confectionery, Homewares, Gifting, Stationery, Electrical
- Experience of working with, FSC, Battery Directive, WEEE Directive, Packaging Waste, Packaging Waste – EPR, Deposit Return Scheme, Distance Selling
- Experience of working with International Trading and compliance requirements
- Excellent organisational skills
- Experience of working directly with suppliers
- Excellent communication skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a team as the role requires
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
