Treasury Analyst

Job Introduction

Ideal candidates will hold a recognised accounting or treasury qualification, is in the latter stages of working towards one, or is qualified by experience. Responsibilities include day-to-day Corporate Treasury processes, cash flow analysis, and reporting to senior Finance stakeholders. Ad hoc project work such as financial risk management, insurance, audits, and business process improvement are key parts of the role.

You'll work closely with the Head of Financial Planning & Analysis and Assistant Accountant – Treasury to deliver the weekly Treasury forecast and associated internal reporting.

Salary £40,000 - £45,000 (depending on experience)

Role Responsibility

  • Supports FP&A budget and forecast processes by understanding the cash assumptions within and ensuring they are reflected within the cashflow forecast. Where variance in actual performance challenges these assumptions, feeds back to respective Finance stakeholders in order to help them deliver in line with budget / forecast 
  • Supports day-to-day relationships with our Corporate banking syndicate by providing reporting and recommendations on liquidity management. Prepares and communicates associated banking instructions in a timely manner in order to maintain liquidity control
  • Develops and demonstrates a detailed understanding of our Corporate banking arrangements and reporting requirements. Prepares and communicates associated bank reporting in a timely manner in order to adhere to banking covenants, applying judgement to manage those communications carefully 
  • Co-ordinates annual insurance renewals / claims by business partnering with various teams across the business to consolidate questionnaire information, provides guidance, reviews and interprets inputs and challenges back where necessary 
  • Supports other Corporate Finance activities, including financial risk management, refinancing activity and Treasury processes 
  • Supports audit reviews by preparing requested information and engages with audit stakeholders to ensure clear understanding and demonstration of process and procedures Deputises for the Head of Financial Planning & Analysis and supports ad hoc business projects and analysis as required 

The Ideal Candidate

  • A basic understanding of corporate treasury functions and processes 
  • Self-motivated and driven, with a desire to grow a career in Corporate Treasury 
  • Strong analytical and Excel skills 
  • High attention to detail 
  • Demonstrable record of process improvement, automation and elimination of non-value adding activities 
  • Reviews and challenges existing approaches to identify opportunities for improvement and simplification 
  • Able to build and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse range of Finance and non-Finance stakeholders. Ability to flex style to suit audience 
  • Resilient, organised, pragmatic and able to manage differing (sometimes competing) priorities 
  • Experience in a fast paced, high turnover, high change business 
  • Commercial outlook and desire to understand the business beyond the numbers 
  • Experience of working in a retail/FMCG business (desirable)
  • Directly relevant treasury experience, gained either in industry or practise, a significant advantage 
  • Provides guidance and support to less experienced and junior team members to build knowledge and expertise across the business (desirable)
